The Siam Hotel – Bangkok’s Ultimate Urban Escape
After traveling non-stop for 5 months, Pierre and I turned to The Siam Hotel in Bangkok for a much needed luxurious retreat.
Bangkok may not be the first city that comes to mind when booking a luxurious retreat to get away from it all. The sprawling city is famous for traffic, shopping, nightlife, busy markets, street food, and crowds. This was all the more reason that Pierre and I were surprised to have one of the most relaxing and re-energizing hotel stays that we ever experienced.
The incredibly warm, welcoming, and CIA level efficient staff made us feel like we were staying in our very own home away from home. Except imagine that you’ve just won the lottery, hired a renowned architect to build a new home for you, and then filled it with beautiful artifacts and collectibles from around the world. In order to give life to your urban palace, you hired some amazing people to take care of your home and each and every guest who passed through its doors. That’s the Siam Hotel experience!
ARRIVING IN STYLE
Did you say that you would be picking us up in a private boat?
Truth be told, I was ecstatic after receiving the confirmation letter from the reservations team stating that we would be picked up along the river in the hotel’s very own private boat.
We later learned that we also had the option of being dropped off anywhere along the river during our stay, which is truly a great option for seeing the nearby sites without having to deal with traffic. We could easily dine at one of the many restaurants along the Chao Phraya River without having to worry about how to get there!
Upon arrival at the Pier, we were greeted by our contact and Gup, who would be our personal butler during our stay.
A little word about Gup, this man personally made our stay one of the best experiences that we have ever had. It was clear that his goal was to make our stay memorable. Would you like some flowers in your room? Sure. How about some rose petals for the bathtub? Of course! Breakfast in bed? No problem! Going out? Let me print you the address of where you are going in Thai & English along with a google map so that you can show to the taxi.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
After checking-in and enjoying our welcome drinks (fresh passion fruit & apple juice!), Gup took us to our rooms before taking us through a tour of the hotel. The hotel itself is stunning with so many picture perfect corners. As a photographer, Pierre said he could stay for a whole week!
We found many corners around the hotel which made us feel like we had the entire place all to ourselves. There is even a private screening room where you could watch movies and have a cocktail at whatever time of day you wish.
THE SUITE
As soon as we stepped foot into our room, we knew it would be difficult to leave this place. It certainly was one of the most stylish hotel rooms we’ve seen in Bangkok. We were hosted in the Mae Nam Suite.
Each room came with its own custom theme. In our case, it was the Thai Boxing or Muay Thai theme.
Pierre’s favorite part of the room: the enormous working station where he could edit photos and the vlog.
My favorite part of the room: his and her closets!
THE PERFECT EVENING “IN”
After settling into our suite and exploring the hotel grounds, it was time for dinner. We had two choices, take the boat to a restaurant (or even Chinatown!) along the river OR dine-in. As we came here specifically to get away from it all, we opted for the dine-in option. The hotel has two restaurant areas with both western and Thai menus. As much as we should have tried the Thai cuisine, we were craving a western style meal after spending almost 2 months in Thailand.
We decided to dine indoors after watching the sunset on the patio outdoors.
It’s the small details in service that really make a difference. We had mentioned to one person at the hotel that we are vegetarian. While the usual menus have plenty of vegetarian options, our waiter brought out a special vegetarian menu for us with even more options to choose from!
We opted for the Quinoa & Warm Roast Vegetable Salad and the Rigatoni Tomato Sauce. Both were very much to our liking.
After returning to our room in the evening, I headed straight for the luxurious bathtub that I had been eyeing earlier. The quality of service never ceased as housekeeping brought us candles to complete our luxurious treat.
THE MORNING AFTER
What good is a luxurious hotel stay without luxurious breakfast? We asked our butler Gup if we could do breakfast in bed to help with our #breakfastgoals instagram shots. His response, of course! Well here you have it friends.
Truth be told, while the Siam Hotel stacks up against the best of the best, there is no shortage luxury hotels in Bangkok. You can choose to stay at any one of these beautiful hotels during your next stay in Bangkok. However, if you want to experience personalized service that goes beyond the call of luxury and makes you feels as though you are royalty in your very own urban palace, you’re best bet is to come to the Siam.

Thanks for the video about The Siam in Bangkok. We are planning to spend 5 days there next year. You asked for other hotel recommendation….not sure if you’ve been to Venice Italy, but the most incredible hotel we’ve ever been to is THE AMAN VENICE. Check it out. It is the most incredible structure and the service was astounding as well. Be well and we look forward to seeing more of you.
You will not regret your stay there! And thanks for the Aman Venice recommendation!
